Welcome to Hearts and Hands Counseling!
Hearts & Hands Counseling is a non-profit counseling and training center dedicated to increasing community access to high quality counseling and affordable counseling services. Expanding community access means providing convenient hours with weekend, evening appointments available without an extended wait time. Conveniently located in Roseville, Hearts & Hands is close to both Rocklin and Sacramento.
Expanding community access also means providing services to families and individuals of all incomes! Too often money is the deciding factor in access to counseling services. Hearts and Hands Counseling, a non-profit counseling agency, was created to increase community access to high-quality and low-cost counseling services.
Fees for counseling services are based on income and ability to pay. Hearts & Hands understands every situation is unique so we meet our clients where they are. The goal is to increase access to affordable and professional mental health services. Our sliding scale fees range from $25 to $85 per session and we are committed to providing counseling to everyone regardless of their financial situation.
Increasing community access also means training the next generation of counselors. Hearts & Hands Counseling has been training counselors for nearly a decade. This ensures that there is always a talented team of Marriage and Family Therapist Interns and Trainees who provide low-cost counseling at a variety of days and times.
To become a licensed therapist in the state of California a candidate must complete a graduate program. The graduate program must include a practicum of approximately 500 direct counseling hours. After both of these requirements are completed, an additional 3,000 direct hours are required before an intern can apply for licensure. These 3,000 hours must include weekly supervision. This supervision is in the form of guidance and training. Hearts and Hands is a place that offers candidates a place to earn those direct counseling hours. This allows Hearts and Hands to offer reduced fees for services.

Born and raised in Oakland, Katie moved to the Sacramento/Roseville area in the early 1990’s. Katie knew early on that she wanted to enter a helping profession. She has been practicing in the Roseville area as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2006, and has been providing clinical supervision to Interns since 2008.
Katie has enjoyed a wide range of experiences during her counseling career. She has worked with children as young as 3 and adults in their 70’s. She worked in conjunction with Victims of Crime, Child Protective Services and Juvenile & Adult Probation. Her experiences with providing therapy has reinforced the strength and resiliency of the human spirit. Awed by the healing power of counseling, Katie finds fulfillment in helping others overcome life's challenges. When not counseling or providing clinical supervision Katie loves camping, hiking, and in the past few years backpacking. She also enjoys watching baseball and amateur photography.
Michelle has been providing counseling services as a registered MFT Intern since 2007. In 2011 she became a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and then early in 2013 she became a clinical supervisor. Michelle has worked with a diverse range of clients from ages 2 to 72. She has worked with clients who are self-referred, county or probation referred, and child welfare referred. She has provided both in home counseling and office based counseling and find value in each.
Michelle considers it an honor to be a part of the beauty of healing and transformation that counseling can bring. Raised in the greater Sacramento area, she moved to the East Bay for most of her internship, and returned to Roseville to bring Hearts and Hands from an idea on paper formed over lunch to an actual place of healing for the community. She enjoys being in nature surrounded by water, spending time with friends and family, and exploring the world around her.
While Michelle no longer works at Hearts & Hands, she continues to be a strong supporter.
