Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee
Pilar is completing her degree in marriage family counseling after teaching high school language arts for over twenty years. Understanding characters and people within their circumstances with compassion and care has been a lifelong passion that has led her into counseling. She brings a depth of human understanding to her practice that allows for the differences we all possess. Coming to understand the client’s story and how he or she finds meaning and strength in that story is her focus, as together with her clients they are able to perceive a new story that offers clarity, confidence, and calm.
Pilar has led the charge of mental wellness at her local high school, offering a Wellness Speaker Series, after school mindfulness groups, and community building activities that foster familiarity and encourage curiosity. She has had extensive experience working with adolescent anxiety and depression as well as LGBTQ issues. Pilar has also spent a considerable amount of time understanding and researching addiction and the families handling addicted members.
